Camille Parmesan is a professor of biology at the University of Texas in Austin. She has a PhD in biological sciences and has an interest in a broad range of topics. She began her research in ecology, evolution, and butterfly-plant interactions before gravitating toward the investigation of the impact of climate change on butterflies. Her growing interest in global warming led her to also enter the field of science/policy interactions. Dr. Parmesan authored multiple sections of the Third Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In 2007, the IPCC, jointly with Al Gore, was honored with a Nobel Peace Prize for its work on climate issues. Because of her expertise in her field, Dr. Parmesan and her work have been cited in many reports, ranging from professional journals, such as Science, to popular papers, such as the New York Times. She has even been featured in the BBC Attenborough series “State of the Planet.”
